Cathedral forecourt

Originally the Domberg hill served as fortress for the Babenberger family and was first mentioned in 902 as the so-called “Castrum Babenberg”. Thanks to its narrow entrances, the plateau was easy to defend. Its current appearance only emerged after the construction of the access road towards the end of the 18th century.
