House of E.T.A. Hoffmann
Whoever says Bamberg must also say E.T.A. Hoffmann. The famous romantic writer lived and worked at Schillerplatz in Bamberg between 1809 and 1813. The apartment, which was his second quarter in Bamberg, was directly opposite to the theatre. His first accommodation was in the immediate vicinity. "D. 1T SEPTBR. IN BAMBERG ANGEKOMMEN" is today clearly visible on the wall of an estate next to Nonnenbrücke, which has served as a residential and studio building for three generations of a Bamberg family of artists.
