Monastery of St. Michael

The Monastery of St. Michael was founded in 1015 by Bishop Eberhard, the first bishop of the young bishopric. The Benedictine monastery was an episcopal monastery of its own, which means that the abbot was solely subordinate to the bishop of Bamberg.
