St. Stephan

The church St. Stephan is located on the Stephansberg, one of the seven hills of Bamberg. It has existed for more than 1000 years and was built between 1007 and 1009 by Bishop Eberhard I.. The couple Kaiser Heinrich II. and his wife Kunigunde were the founders. The consecration of the church did not take place until 1020, when Pope Benedict VIII visited the Emperor in Bamberg on one of his journeys. Weiterlesen »
